Programme Notes

For this production the accent is again on comedy - this time in a more sophisticated setting.

Heading the cast as Sir Robert Marlowe and his wife, Lydia, are two firm favourites with Fairlight audiences, Patricia Wilkins and Edward Garrard.

Lila Garrard, whose past pirtrayals have been so well received, this time appears as the vivacious Stella Manners.

Our cast includes three members making their debut. Win Miller, giving a fine study in the role of Daisy Roberts the Dowager Lady Charlton and Collette Freeman and Nicky Frith as the daughters of the house - Diana and Susan Marloew.

"Silver Wedding" presented some problems in it's setting and we should like to acknowledge the assistance given with the stage carpentry.

The play is again produced by E.T. Warden.

May we take this opportunity of thanking you for your continued support and sincerely hope that you will enjoy this production.

(Notes copied from rear of programme)

We have no information about an autumn performance in 1963, so unless we are missing some information in our archive, this appears to have been the only production staged by the Players during the year. It is notable as it marks the debut performance of Nicky Frith, who still lives in Fairlight, and is still a paid up member of the Fairlight Players. As such, I guess this makes her, not necessarily the oldest, but almost certainly the longest serving member. From my point of view, hopefully it marks an end to the guesswork in identifying cast members. Sadly, we don't have a photograph from this production, but rest assured Nicky, I will shortly be prevailing upon your "little grey cells" for help.
