The action takes place over two days in the Summer on the patio outside the Hotel Floreat, on the Italian Riviera.

This is one of very few plays performed a second time by the Players (it would be revived in the Spring of 1997) so I guess it must have been a good one. Once again, the only pictures that we have come to us by courtesy of the Fairlight WI, who not only identify the cast members pictured, but also give us a brief snatch of the dialogue. Presumably the compiler of the scrapbook did not have access to a programme, since the names of three of the four characters are mis-spelt.

We can't blame the WI for giving Mr. Warden the wrong initial, since it was mis-typed in the programme. He should, of course, be Edward T and not E.J. Warden, although he was, apparently, always known as "Sam", so explain that one for me if you can.

Three cast members make their debut in this play, including the two featured in the right hand picture.

As a slight aside, the WI scrapbook also provides us with some nice views of the interior of the village hall as it was in 1965. The photograph shows the hall decorated for the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the WI movement, whilst the delighful watercolour below recreates a typical scene at a WI meeting.

Finally, the WI wrote this very nice article, which featured in the special "Golden Jubilee" scrapbook.
I gather that WI groups throughout the UK compiled scrapbooks during 1965 in order to preserve a snapshot of community life across the country.
