Numbering eighteen in total, I think this is
probably the largest cast seen on the Fairlight stage to date, and
bearing in that the Players were still confined to the small hall,
it must have been a bit of a squeeze. Having recruited a new young
cast for the Spring play, this one switches to the opposite end of
the spectrum, being based in the lounge of "The Wings", a charity
home for retired actresses. This necessitated bringing Jade St. Cyr
out of "retirement" ... her last part with the Players had been in
the 1961 production of "Count Your Blessings".
The programme lists the part of the doctor as being played by
"A.N.Other". However, a scribbled note in Dorothy Snowball's script
names him as "Leslie" ... presumably Leslie Fawkes (the
producer) or possibly Leslie Hulf. |
