The action passes in the Masters' Common Room at Hilary Hall School for Boys, in Hampshire. It is the first day of the Summer Term in 1946.

This is one of very few plays deemed worthy of a second run, just ten years after it was first performed by the Players in 1972. I note that Bert Moore and Joan French appeared in both productions, albeit playing different roles. The programme shows that Pearl Coussens and Margaret Charrot, both of whom appeared for the first time just the previous year helping behind the scenes, have well and truly thrown themselves into the life of the Players, having taken over the roles of Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
