This production marked the Fairlight debut of Andy Godfrey in the role of Gilbert Bodley, the lecherous Managing Director of Bodley, Bodley and Crouch. The remaining cast members were all familiar faces, but rarely has a play been so well cast, with every individual inhabiting their given part as if it had been written especially for them. 

The set designers had the additional challenge of building a set on three levels - quite a challenge with the limited headroom available in the village hall. Cast members found themselves even closer to the lights than normal ... an incentive, if ever there was one, to keep the action moving so as to avoid getting toasted.

A plucky Aisling Tigwell overcame her natural shyness to tempt and tease as if she had been coached by experts (although the handy tips passed on by Carol Ardley in the "undressing" department suggested a murky past that we will refrain from exploring). The Director, too, revealed some surprising qualities .... as Andy observed during rehearsals "There are very few people in the world that can teach me anything about leching."

In every way, this production was an outstanding success, deservedly breaking the Players' all time record for the total number of tickets sold. It will be a hard act to follow, but we'll do our best.
