Oh No!........he cried, he was very wound up
when awakening one morning for his usual tea sup
when a glance at his watch showed... A quarter to nine!
No! No! He thought. That can't be the time?
The radio too! Yes, yes... it's 8-45!
& my pals, there're nearly due to arrive!
His 'experts' to see his just bought antique with case of fine Lime
but it'd stopped & of course...it just didn't Chime!
So strange as last night he checked it at ten to eleven
& now shows the big hand just past the seven!
He hoped just the spring was fully unwound
as they definitely promised it was perfectly sound...
His boasted-to friends would now simply mock
his expensive new toy he'd just bought on Toc!
No no sorry, that's wrong, I meant to say Tick!
Quick, quick he thought I've only a second!
Perhaps a bit late he hopefully reckoned.
He thought The Auctioneer said just 10 turns of the Key
but I think 20 seems more like it to me!
He was right and soon finished the winding Great! He shouted, he'd not found any binding!
Now lets start the swing of the great Pendulum!
He murmured as carefully letting go of it's fine Platinum.
Marvellous! Hooray, it's fantastically going!
His smiles returned & much happiness flowing.
He'd set the correct time, on the 9th hour in one minute
& knew his new timepiece would give him wonder with no limit.
Then from the front door there came a firm knock
yes just the two, but he thought to show off it should be a flock!
Fantastic &Amazing! They announced at the strong strike of nine each checking their Rolex It's perfectly on time!
With fine workmanship & cascade of sounds to delight
there is just one thought...would sleep be possible during the night!
Who knows but that is the tale of guess who...yes our TIM
you remember his namesake Dad when telephone dialling him
& now his son here his full name we hope will not shock
it's obvious of course........Mister.....TIM.....CLOCK!
