The garden’s full of berries,
jewelled in red and gold.
Bushes heavy with riches
wait for birds to fill
fat bellies and gorge
on this rich bounty.
Nature’s excelled herself;
feathered friends are spoilt for choice.
They, too, plump to bursting
Balance like tight-rope walkers
On spindly branches, eager To release their burden.
Grass, once brown and bare,
Is glossy emerald, splattered
With dew-twinkling diamonds;
Littered like an artist’s palette
by scatterings of paper leaves,
Tossed, playing in the gentle breeze.
