| This poem was written in response
to the group's quarterly challenge to write a poem on a given topic.
Having just emerged from the Christmas and New Year's festivities, it
seemed appropriate to choose "Celebration" as our topic on this
occasion. |
Only the sun outshines a song
That is sung in harmony
As heaven begins the day
A stream moves along its way.
Let me wander where I will
Hear the sound of music still
Not only the bird that sings.
Song is in the smallest things.
I am glad of joyful days.
To celebrate as music plays
Blending with rhythm and song
In the flow of nature's throng.
I feel the joy music brings
As pleasant choir voices sing
Sweetness like summer's glory
Foretold the Christmas story.
Unto us a child is born
Giving hope to all forlorn
Like bells on Sunday sounding
Their glad message resounding.
So let us now celebrate
With tunes of pure merriment
Whatever may now befall
God will bless us one and all.
