Diamond Jubilee

by Margaret Hall

When the young Queen came to the throne,
Before the day of the mobile phone.
No man had ever walked on the moon.
No computer games- it was much too soon.

In 60 years these things took place
Have they improved the human race?
We still seem to find a war to fight.
All over the world, it can’t be right.

We still need Oxfam, Children In Need,
War on Want the starving to feed.
A place to lay their weary heads
While we lie cosy in our beds.

In 60 years the world has changed.
Some things are better, some rearranged.
But over all our Queen reigns supreme,
So let's give a cheer and "God save the Queen!"
