Hobbies

by Norman Dengate

In telling you about my Hobbies, I’m not sure where to start
Should I reminisce from years ago, to my present interest, Art?

Photography was my first real hobby, in which I became enveloped
The bathroom became the darkroom' with Enlarger and chemicals all inline' but nothing much developed
It all got rather easier when transparencies appeared, I was no more deluded
35 millimetres replaced the 1 2 0 and processing was included

W.D & H.O Wills, John Player, names remembered from way back
Not for the cigarettes they made but the cards inside the pack
Footballers, Cricketers, Film Stars too. We needed all we could get
Swapping "Twicer’s" with your friends to help complete the set

Stanley Gibbons became my guide for the hobby called Philately
Postage stamps from around the world, in albums most methodically
It all seemed interesting at that time, but now, when looking back
It really was a waste of time as I never did discover that 1840 Penny Black

My motorcycling days were revived when I saw a Triumph Cub for sale, but painted Yellow Black
Now you all know that’s not right, so I bought it, and to my garage brought it back
After a full strip down (the bike not me) it’s was ready for renovation,
A '38 Tiger 70 then joined my Triumph stable, this was in quite good trim so needed no innovation

I weakened then and strayed from the famous Triumph brand,
Acquiring a Velocette 350 MAC. It’s condition was quite grand
So with all the renovation up to date, I then began to fidget
So I strayed even further from the brand, and bought an M.G Midget
