Music

by Doris Fenner

You can dance to the fiddle
And march to the drum
You can jig to the piccolo
And to the harp you can hum

In Spain the play castanets
While fishermen sit and mend their nets
The men play their guitars at a very fast tempo
While the girls swirl their fancy skirts to the flamenco

In London the pubs have a piano that tinkles
Whilst on Sunday it's time to eat their cockles and winkles

The church organ is one of the very best
To play hymns at weddings and gatherings
And to lay people at rest

There are so many forms of music, it is hard to express
But the last night of the Proms is sure to impress
The Royal Philharmonic has it all
Music, singing, excitement and tradition
Until the very last curtian call
