They met when they were just fifteen
Two Salvationists in the Army band
It wasn’t long before they were attracted
And were walking, hand in hand.
Just two years later came a parting As the needs of war then demanded
Not because of a change of heart
He joined the R.A.F. as was commanded
All the time he was away, three years he was abroad
But weekly letters were received by post Including the special February card
That lovers appreciate the most
They married soon after his return, upon his leaving the RAF
They raised a family of which they were proud
Seventy years now have passed, since first they met
Now with Grand & Great grandchildren to complete the crowd
Now it’s time to admit ’He’ is me
And Joyce is ‘She’ my lifetime love
So for all these years our lives entwine
She has been, and is, my loving Valentine
