Olympics

by Betty Batt
The poem was written in response to a challenge to write something about the Olympics. Our meeting took place shortly before the Olympics opened in London. I wonder if Betty's view changed after the event?

To me the Olympics are boring,
and I wasn’t going to write about it
But I did this morning.

In time when the economy is spiraling,
I think, why have it!
and the weather just keeps pouring.

So I’ll put on me boots and drag
the dog out.
Walk in the Marsh, do the things that I love.
Watch the birds in the sky,
Just for me performing.

Hey! is it me who is boring?
