Silently the night is falling gently across the green.
Shadows dance amongst the trees,
To the rhythms of the breeze.
Children’s voices from long ago mingle with the whispering leaves.
They echo softly across the green,
The echoing, echoing green.
The mist that hides their world from ours
Briefly thins, we almost see them.
Joy and laughter fill the air, Across the green, the echoing green.
Too soon the vision is over, gently falls the mist and dew;
Shadows fade amongst the trees, forsaking all but the whispering leaves,
Across the green, the echoing, echoing,
Echoing Green.
