A wall of overwhelming force, a dragon poised to kill
To crash upon the innocent and desecrate at will.
To devastate the landscape with a whirling, surging swell
And from a living paradise create an earthly hell.
The seas rose up that fateful day and nature's wrath unfurled
And shed its deadly cargo on an unsuspecting world.
And in its wake destruction lay, the buildings and the trees
Just tossed aside like children's toys with awe-inspiring ease.
The animals and birds had fled to safer ports inland
Complacent man had lost the skill to trust their helping hand
And why had man's technology deserted those in need?
No warning was forthcoming then of nature's deadly deed.
Yet in the fearful aftermath from every race and creed
Man put aside his differences to cherish those in need.
Yes, he can love his neighbour and he has no need to fight
When in a flash grand nature strikes with devastating might.
The memory of that grey day's forever in the mind
To emphasize the awesome power of nature on mankind.
So pray that from this tragedy our hopes can stay alive
Let's reunite our wondrous world that we may all survive.
